Autumn French Country – Amelia & Tim

August 29th, 2011

This mood board was created with Amelia and Tim’s wonderfully whimsical French Country reception venue in mind.

The silvery greys, worn whites and tactile textiles, that fill Hopewood Country House’s light filled rooms, became the starting point for concepts put forward. With the wedding weekend set at the Autumn’s end, the warm colours found in seasonal blooms and fruit add the extra unexpected ‘pop’ that guarantees to excite. These rich and inviting ingredients inspire styling for the wedding whether it be Pomegranate Place Cards, Fig Covered Cake or Berry Strewn Flower Arrangements.

Amelia’s wish for tying tradition and playfulness is evident both in the mood board (the bride wore red shoes) as well as in the invitation concepts themselves. Each solution uses sumptuous paper stocks and luxurious print processes.

A Patchwork Quilt of Family Life & Style

August 24th, 2011

It’s an exciting time for me, the Zed of Zed & Bee. I’m on the cusp of a move from loveable Leichhardt after many happy years, over the bridge and then some to the lower Northern Beaches. The sea is pulling me back and my mind is racing with possibilities of styling my dream home.

Being newly’ish married, when contemplating the next house, providing extra rooms for miniature roommates (children) becomes necessity. I wonder whether my future will need to include a filthy 4WD, generic durable furniture and wipe-downable surfaces? Will our space still represent us or just the newer members of the family?

I needn’t have worried. After viewing the casually cool families documented by photographer
Kata Varga and writer Natalie Walton at Frontliners, it seems there is a patchwork quilt of family life and style. Frontliners is a site documenting ‘how people live at home when one turns into two or more. And what happens to passions when a new one comes along.’

Work with The Wolves on Onitsuka Tiger Lookbook

August 23rd, 2011

Zed & Bee had the pleasure recently of working with Six Wolves to produce the limited edition lookbook for street footwear label Onitsuka Tiger. The lookbook is filled with campaign images produced by the Wolves, was printed on lovely Tudor 140gsm recycled uncoated paper and came up beautifully.

The Art of the Cocktail Hour ‘Mad Men NY’

August 8th, 2011

With my annual leave just days away, you can imagine the guilt felt when Billie and I left the studio early last Thursday to attend the launch of Cointreau’s Art of the Cocktail Hour blog at iconic Bondi Icebergs Bar. It was the chance to meet our fellow contributors, each hand-selected to lend insight into what makes for a stellar cocktail party, with a little Cointreau thrown in of course.

Karen Lavecky (producer of divinely delicious Lotus & Ming delicacies), Gaynor Alder (words behind  The Modern Woman’s Survival Guide) and the solo boy Matthew Barnett Cointreau’s Spirit-ualist Advisor) made up the impressive group of contributors. A few of the savvy ladies behind Cointreau and the PR team that support it, rounded off the group and there wasn’t a laspe in laughter as Cointreau infused Iceberg Sunset’s were consumed.

In short, we left on a high! It was beyond inspiring to converse with like minded entrepreneurs, each having made their hobby their craft and loving every minute of it. It was also refreshing to see a luxury brand like Cointreau thinking outside the box and celebrating the age old art of the cocktail hour, and of course allowing us to be part of such a fun, creative project. Zed & Bee have the priveledge of presenting further cool cocktail themed mood boards, as well as an article in the following weeks.
